Agvance — Building a Connected Product Experience
At Software Solutions Integrated (SSI), I helped establish the company’s first dedicated UX team and shape the visual UX/UI direction of Agvance’s evolving product suite. Working closely with designers and engineers, I helped guide its transition toward cloud-based software, bringing greater clarity and consistency to complex agricultural business tools.
Agvance supports workflows across accounting, agronomy, dispatch, grain, and grower services. Our challenge was to make those specialized tools feel like one connected product family while respecting the different needs of office staff, sales teams, field operators, and growers.
A major part of my work was establishing the design foundation that allowed that product family to scale. Together, we developed a shared library of icons, typography, styles, and interface patterns, accessible to the engineering team through reusable code variables. This gave designers and developers a common language and made it easier to create new platforms and pages using established design decisions.
The system connected visual direction directly to implementation. Engineers could reference shared styles and assets, while our team could extend familiar patterns across products. That helped streamline collaboration, reduce visual inconsistencies, and maintain a cohesive experience as the suite expanded.
Alongside that foundation, I helped define a recognizable product identity and shape interfaces around clear information hierarchy, consistent navigation, and approachable workflows. Our focus was making detailed business information easier to understand and use across desktop and mobile experiences.
My time at SSI brought together team development, hands-on product design, and systems thinking. We established a dedicated UX practice and built a reusable design framework that supported both the people using Agvance and the engineers building its next generation.
